Karpos had no vertical racing specialist, so the arrival of Hannes Perkmann completes the team. At the same time, this new collaboration will offer him new motivation to test his abilities on other routes, further expanding his racing horizons. It’s a relationship that’s sure to take both partners to a new level.
BIOGRAPHY
Not only up. The name Hannes Perkmann is undeniably linked to uphill-only races, given his natural aptitude for this type of competition, which, in the space of a few seasons, has made him one of the strongest vertical racers currently active.
Not many know that he has the best world performance on 500 meters of elevation gain (in 2018, at the Valtellina Vertical Tube, he stopped the clock at 13'54"; he is the only athlete in the world to break the 14-minute barrier), but even fewer know his potential. Yes, because Hannes is an all-round skyrunner who can perform at a high level on any type of course.
His passion for running was ignited almost by chance, but it was practically inevitable for a kid growing up in the mountains of Val Sarentino, near Bolzano. After an adolescence spent chasing a ball, at the age of 20 he put on running shoes ... and never took them off again.
