Katia Tomatis is a member of the Italian national ski mountaineering team, which revolutionized her life a few years ago. After leaving her job at a bank, she chose to run a rifugio in the upper Stura Valley in the province of Cuneo. Now, thanks to the seasonal nature of this work, she has been able to more consistently devote time to ski mountaineering. In early 2015, after collecting some excellent results and winning the national title in the vertical race, she was called to defend the Italian colors in World Cup races. Since then, success has not been lacking. Her victories include this year’s Pierra Menta, which has allowed her to achieve a dream. Now she will take a break to be a mother, and then, who knows, she may come back stronger than before.
