“Beyond the competitions, I’ve always loved all types of rock climbing,” says Cédric Lachat. “I began climbing when I was 10, following my older brother. It all started with the first route, which came easily, almost effortlessly. I recognized immediately that climbing would be the best way to develop in life. After a year of preparation, I participated in my first competition. Competing came naturally, and without much effort I finished on the podium. From that moment, I realized I could face almost any challenge, and I began to compete on the World Cup circuit, earning podiums and respect among the inner circle of the strongest climbers in the world. I like the challenge of sport climbing a 9a+, free climbing a big wall in Yosemite or putting up new routes around the world.” At 17 Cédric was world champion. The duel he won against Adam Ondra in the final of the Arco Rock Master in 2009 is legendary. Cédric has made a mark with his distinctive style, shaping a character that now drives him to seek new challenges on still-unclimbed big walls all around the world.
