Nearly a hundred years after the first official competition, ski mountaineering is preparing to make its debut on the most important stage in winter sports.

“Road to Italy: The Skimo Journey” will lead you on a three-episode exploration of the many facets of this discipline.
Through archival footage and exclusive interviews with key figures in the skimo racing world, you’ll learn about the milestones that led the sport to the events scheduled for February 19 and 21 in Bormio.
You’ll encounter the perspectives of the athletes, the organizers of the most beautiful race in the world, and the technicians who helped bring skimo to global prominence.
You’ll also get a firsthand look at the sprint race course that will decide the winners of the most important medals in ski mountaineering history, at the Stelvio Ski Centre.

“Road to Italy: The Skimo Journey” is available beginning December 30.

The young Italian talent Hermann Debertolis visits his national teammate and friend Robert Antonioli, one of the most successful athletes in the history of ski mountaineering. As the two skiers climb, the conversation turns to the discipline’s most recent developments, which led to the dream of the races in Bormio. Even during training, though, competition persists, on or off the skis.

What makes ski mountaineering the most beautiful sport in the world? The sense of freedom, the deep connection with nature, or the unique atmosphere of classic races like the Pierra Menta?
In this roundup of perspectives from key players in the racing world, the focus shifts to the evolution in the equipment and the racing movement within the national federations.

With just a few weeks to go until the finals in Bormio, the Belgian athlete Maximilien Drion Du Chapois and the Spaniard Ana Alonso Rodriguez are ready to realize their career-long dream.
With them, we’ll explore the features of the sprint and mixed relay races, immersing ourselves in the Bormio race course with an exclusive preview.
