High mountain guide, mountaineer on four continents, ski instructor. Sophie Moritz is a well-rounded professional whose relationship with rock, mixed, and ice climbing goes far beyond what’s on her résumé. Born in Lorraine, France, Sophie was won over by the Alps. 
After completing a degree in engineering, she moved to Grenoble, the gateway to the peaks of European mountaineering — from the Ecrins to Mont Blanc, from Valais to Val d’Aosta. 
On these natural playgrounds, her passion grew together with her skills. The search for freedom became her primary need, and roped ascents were the only way to fully satisfy it. Sophie ended her training period by joining the French national mountaineering team, a proving ground that has confirmed her destiny. On every excursion, the Frenchwoman always brings a radiant smile and a deep respect for the rules imposed by safety considerations and the conditions.
She decided to become a mountain guide in order to pass on to others the joy of hard work and the sense of eternal wonder that one feels only after reaching a new summit.
Sophie does not lack an adventurous spirit. She has demonstrated her talent on some of the most iconic slabs on the planet, including in Patagonia, Yosemite, Brazil, and Jordan.
Equally noteworthy are her paragliding adventures — a way, she tells us, to look at the peaks from a different perspective and identify the next vertical challenge.
